Our Story
How KinDentists Preserved Community Dental Care in City Heights
The story of how we stepped in to save a neighborhood clinic -- and what we learned about what healthcare could be.
Our location has served San Diego for 30+ years, caring for more than 10,000 patients -- mostly from the city's diverse immigrant communities.
When the previous owner, Dr. Yin, approached retirement, she faced the painful likelihood of closing the clinic. Community practices like hers rarely transition successfully because the burden and risk for new owners is too high, and losing this one would have left thousands without accessible care.
After meeting Dr. Yin and seeing the essential role her clinic played, we stepped in to preserve and strengthen it. With KinDentists' support, we modernized the practice -- moving from paper charts and mailed correspondence to fully digital health records and streamlined workflows. We invested in better equipment and added dedicated clinicians, insurance specialists, and technologists to better support both patients and staff.
These upgrades quickly improved access and efficiency, along with overall quality of care. One example: pre-authorization wait times for Medicaid/Medicare patients dropped from the usual 6--8 weeks to just 1--2 weeks, helping patients in pain get treated sooner and return to their normal lives.
Thank you for your trust and support as we continue working to expand affordable, reliable dental care for our community.
